Ann Purvis Bruce Adam

Biographical Information: ANN PURVIS BRUCE ADAM, born c.1847 in Edinburgh, Scotland, died 20th March 1882 at 25 East Claremont Street, Edinburgh (aged 35). Music teacher. Living (8th April 1861 per census) aged 14 with her parents at 14 Dundas Street, Edinburgh, and (April 1871 per census) aged ? 27 (surely 21) with her grandmother Helen Purvis or Bruce (see 1.1.3.1.1. above) at 25 East Claremont Street, Edinburgh. Married (4th March 1879 at her home 14 Dundas Street, Edinburgh, by Rev. Robert J. Sandeman, Minister of St Andrews Free Church of Scotland) James McIntosh (born c.1839 at Cargill, Perthshire, Scotland, died 26th January 1918 at 10 Bellevue Crescent, Edinburgh) of 14 West Claremont Street, Edinburgh, solicitor of the Supreme Courts (S.S.C.), Auditor of the Court of Session, who was living (1891) as a widower at 25 East Claremont Street, Edinburgh, and (1898 and 1917/18) at 10 Bellevue Crescent, Edinburgh, [Note: a fine portrait of him by Hendry Kerr was (1989) in the possession of his great nephew James McIntosh Patrick (see OA. 110) (born 1907 in Dundee, Angus, Scotland, died 1998), the celebrated Scottish landscape artist, who was named after him and inherited the portrait from Ann McIntosh (see 1.1.3.1.1.4.1.2. below); he also inherited two further portraits of James McIntosh from John Fleming Philip, widower of Helen McIntosh (see 1.1.3.1.1.4.1.1. below), one of which he gifted to the University of Dundee, Dundee, and the other (also a watercolour by Hendry Kerr and dated either 1897 or 1907) to his brother Graham Patrick (see OA. 113) being (1989) in the possession of Graham Patrick's son Tony Patrick (see OA. 114) who was (1989) serving with the British army in Cyprus and is great-great-nephew of James McIntosh], son of John McIntosh (died before 1879), journeyman mason, and of Helen Moncur (died before 1879), having two daughters:-
