The "Histories" page allows you to locate biographical texts relating to individuals. These texts are called "Histories".
The "Search" facility will match your search text with corresponding items in any or all of:
a. The "Description" column showing Purvis Family Numbers
b. The "Linked To" column showing individual names
c. The "History" document containing the biographical details
The "History" text itself may be viewed by clicking on the Purvis Number in the "Description" column.
The personal details of any individual listed may be viewed by clicking on the name in the "Linked To" column.
It is interesting to browse the family history sequentially by proceeding through the list of Purvis family numbers which present the whole historic family biographical texts in structured order by Purvis Number. See the notes here on the home page under the heading "How to use this website" for instruction on how the Purvis number system works.
The "History" documents display page has "forward" and "backward" links which allow you to browse very conveniently through the biographical texts. These texts provide a wealth of most interesting in-depth information not available in the main site database.
To search for Purvis numbers please note that "OA" numbers have the format "OA 97-1.1.1." and "Main" numbers have the format "M-1.1.1." where the "1.1.1." in each case is the actual number.
