Awarded (2003) the O.A.M. in the Queen's Honours List for services as manager of the Surf Life Saving Association and for coaching the Australian surfing team versus New Zealand. Retired and touring around Australia by caravan (2004). Living (1993) at Broadbeach, Queensland, (2004) at Broadbeach Waters, Queensland, and (2009) in Miami, Queensland. Married 1st (22nd November 1958 at Coorparoo, Brisbane, Queensland) Donna Rosemary Bohan (born 21st August 1932 in Brisbane), retired (2004), daughter of Les Bohan and Katherine ….., having three children:- JOHN DESMOND OGILVIE married 2nd (26th December 1985 in Nerang, Queensland) Gail Elenor Haig (born 5th December 1948 in Toowoomba, Queensland), retired, daughter of Ernest George Haig and Elenor Nicholson Boyd, having no further children.
