Biographical Information: WILLIAM JOHN PURVIS (JACK), born 1874 in Nyngan, New South Wales (registered at Dubbo, New South Wales), died 21st January 1954 (? aged 73) at the Repatriation General Hospital, Heidelberg, Melbourne, Victoria, buried in Preston Cemetery, Melbourne. Known as Jack Lloyd ("Happy Jack"), it is thought he changed his surname to LLOYD when he left his 1st wife in 1903. Blacksmith. Lived latterly at Old Eltham Road, Greensborough, Victoria. Married 1st (2nd February 1899 at his home in Cobar, New South Wales) Lillian Alfreda Peake (Elsie) (born c.1878, died 8th February 1941 at Cobar), whom he left (1903) in Cobar on the death of their daughter and who divorced him (25th June 1929) when she discovered he had had children by another woman, daughter of Richard Butler Peake (died before 1899) and Kate Ellen Lean (died before 1899), having two children:- WILLIAM JOHN PURVIS, after leaving (1903) his first wife, by "a lady in Banksia 2216" had two further sons (twins) (but no record of these births up to 1905):- WILLIAM JOHN PURVIS, now known as JOHN LLOYD (JACK), then married 2nd or 3rd ? ….. (both of whom met his granddaughter Catherine Grace Purvis or Key (see 1.1.3.1.7.7.3.1.2. above) in 1952).
