Biographical Information: NELDA LEAKE, born 20th September 1910 in Neutral Bay, Sydney, New South Wales, died 21st October 2005, aged 95, buried in Tamworth, New South Wales. Living (1989) at Quirindi, New South Wales, and (2003) in Tamworth. Married John Donald Curran (born 19th December 1913, died 29th July 1999, buried in Tamworth), for 18 years District Engineer of the Water Conservation and Irrigation Commission in Moree, New South Wales, and official trustee of some 87 artesian bore water districts in North West New South Wales, whereby his close involvement with the people and events (drought, floods, fire) in this region was well represented in his book of verse Murder on the Bore-Drain, published 1978 by The Quirindi Newspaper Co. Pty Ltd, having one son and adopting one daughter:-
