Served with the 4th Field Regiment in New Guinea and Bougainville, Solomon Islands, during World War II. Married (14th March 1938 at the Courthouse, Herberton) Violet Edna Browning (Edna) (born 17th February 1915 at Mareeba, North Queensland, died 23rd August 2000) of Mount Carbine, Queensland, living (1995) at Kalunga, Herberton, daughter of Robert James Browning (born 18?? at Ipswich, Queensland, married October/November 1915 in Mareeba, drowned 1922 while fishing on the Mitchell River, near Mount Carbine), carpenter, and Violet Edna Grey (born 18?? at Townsville, Queensland), bookbinder, having two sons:-
