Julian Amourous (dooley) Purvis

Biographical Information: JULIAN AMOUROUS PURVIS (DOOLEY), born 1895 in Cobar, New South Wales (registered at Coonamble, New South Wales), died 29th August 1977 in Queensland. The forename Amourous supposedly came from a French story which his mother was reading before he was born and which she fancied (in fact she adopted it as her own surname on some occasions) - but also the witnesses at the marriage in 1899 of his brother William John Purvis (see 1.1.3.1.7.7.3. above) and Elsie Peake were Mary Purvis and L. Amourous. He was taken to Queensland by his mother when she left his father (c.1898). Enlisted at the age of 17 and served in the Light Horse during World War I, mostly in Egypt. Clerk in the Lands Department office. Married (31st October 1932 in Brisbane, Queensland) Agnes May McCorley (born 20th May 1905 at Taroom, Queensland), shop assistant, living (2001) in Toowong, Brisbane, daughter of Myles James McCorley (born in Taroom), store keeper, and Ellen Mary O'Shea, having one son:-
