Mary Purvis
Biographical Information: MARY PURVIS, born c.1796 in Lancashire, England, died 10th August 1857 at Newbiggin(g), Burntisland, Fife, Scotland, aged 61 years, buried in Kirkton Cemetery (North West corner), Burntisland. She kept house for her uncle Alexander Purvis (see 1.1.3.6. below) at Burntisland, prior to his marriage in November 1819, and was designated his principal heir in a will of 1817. Living at Newbiggin(g) House, Burntisland, in 1851. Married (1st December 1819 at Burntisland) William Young (born c.1786/87 at Burntisland, died 10th November 1855 at Grange House, Burntisland, aged 69 years, buried in Kirkton Cemetery, Burntisland) of Grange Distillery, Burntisland, where he employed 87 workers in 1851, and of Dunearn and Newbigging, Burntisland, where he employed 37 workers on a farm of 687 acres and hill/forest ground of 60 acres, sixth child and fourth son of William Young (born c.1745, died 30th August 1831 aged 86 years, buried in Kirkton Cemetery, Burntisland) of Grange, Burntisland, distiller, and of Helen Simson or Sinclair (born c.1748, died 12th December 1821 aged 73, buried in Kirkton Cemetery, Burntisland) (whose other children were Margaret, John, Mary, Robert, George, Helen and Betsy), having three sons:-
