Biographical Information: MARTHA PURVIS, born c.1801. She kept house for her uncle Alexander Purvis (see 1.1.3.6. below) at Burntisland, Fife, Scotland, prior to his marriage (1819) and was living in Burntisland at the time of her own marriage (1819). Married (2nd November 1819 in Edinburgh, Scotland) Captain (later General) Thomas Murray of Princes Street, Edinburgh, having no children. Note: Mary Purvis (see 1.1.3.4.2. above) and Martha Purvis (see 1.1.3.4.3. above) kept house for their uncle Alexander Purvis (see 1.1.3.6. below) at Burntisland, Fife, Scotland, until all three of them got married in November and December 1819.
