Robert William Theodore (theo) Purvis
Biographical Information: ROBERT WILLIAM THEODORE PURVIS (THEO) of Honolulu, born 11th February 1856 in Padang, Sumatra, Dutch East Indies (Indonesia), died 25th August 1941 in Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii, ashes buried at Nuuanu Cemetery, Honolulu. Educated in Brussels, Belgium, and England, he went first into banking for two years (1874-76) with Corrie & Co. in London, England. Served in the London Scottish Regiment (1874-77). Preceded his father to the Hawaiian Islands (Hawaii) in December 1877 and was partner in a sugar plantation at Kealia, near Lihue, Kauai, Hawaiian Islands (Hawaii). This property was later abandoned (1882) and he became head "Luna" and bookkeeper of the Kilauea Plantation (1881-83) and bookkeeper and Secretary to George N. Wilcox at Grove Farm, Lihue (1883-1916). He was Clerk of the Kauai Circuit Court (1885-99), Director of the McBryde Sugar Company and a merchant. He was living at Lihue, Kauai, in 1890 and 1893 and in Honolulu from 1916, latterly at 930 16th Avenue, Honolulu. Married (7th April 1891 in the Anglican Cathedral, Honolulu) Mary Elizabeth McBryde (born 31st August 18??) of Wahiawa, Kauai, Hawaiian Islands (Hawaii), daughter of Judge McBryde, having two children:-
