Commissioned (9th February 1951) from the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England, into the Royal Horse Guards (The Blues). Formerly Master of Foxhounds of The Bicester Hunt, Bicester, Oxfordshire, England, and of the Mendip Farmers Hunt, Somerset, England. Living (until 1st May 1985) at Priddy, Wells, Somerset, and (2003) at Chipping Warden, Northamptonshire (near Banbury, Oxfordshire), England. Married (17th January 1953 at St Ninian's Church, Newton Stewart, Wigtownshire, Scotland) Elspeth Mary Fleming-Hamilton (born 11th August 1929, died November 2009), younger daughter of Major William Malcolm Fleming-Hamilton, Highland Light Infantry (H.L.I.), D.L., J.P., of Craichlaw, near Newton Stewart, and of Susanna Skrine, having three daughters:-
